As the needs of the community grows, the Community Caring Programme grows with it.
The sub- region communities of Cape Town (South Africa) are trying to cope with many challenges and an array of social ills.
Community caring and feeding in ” Informal Settlements” has become an important and integral part of Our Gift NPC. For many, one meal a day is the only meal available to them. Walk with us on our pathway to make a difference.
In South Africa 63 % of our children live in poverty.
This study was a joint finding between Ilifa Labantwana, the Children’s Institute at the University of Cape Town and the Department of Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation in the Presidency. Statistics were published in the South African Early Childhood Review. With this in mind, African governments are continously attempting to mobilise private, voluntary and community-based partners to promote and strengthen childhood education.
How can we give Hope to children and families in sub-regions of Cape Town?
Education is a way to improve life in South Africa. Without primary education, children are likely to remain impoverished for the rest of their lives. We are in search of funds to aid us in designing and implementing a programme that would minimize the dropout rate of children in primary schools. This is especially important to those children living in informal settlements where poverty is rife. The feeding projects in schools and in communities increases the attendance and learning in schools.
Our Gift NPC’s school feeding and community caring projects focus on providing comfort and hope to children and families affected by poverty, these individuals are at risk of feeling depressed and often present behavioral problems. For many disadvantaged children and families the community caring project is a helping hand in the right direction.
