Our Vision
“We are one” Abundance through Opportunity.
Our Mission
Our Gift is a Non-Profit Company (NPC) involved in community school feeding and charity outreach projects, which include feeding in “Informal Settlement”.
The project focuses on extremely remote and neglected areas in the Cape Town (South Africa) region.
The mission of Our Gift is to provide food to children and families affected by poverty. Children affected by poverty can feel isolated and alone. Their circumstances put them at risk for depression; suicide and behavioral problems . Children living in these areas are constantly at risk of becoming users of illegal substances. The school and community-feeding programs help to provide support to prevent complications that arise from poverty and lack of education. We strive to help break the cycle of poverty, addiction and lack of education in the next generation.
Our Gift helps improves the quality of life of the people in the community.
We support vulnerable people in our community without regard to race, creed or ethnicity.
We respect the culture and customs of the people we help in order to preserve their humanity and dignity.
Children have the right to support, protection, and care. We help deprived, excluded and vulnerable children to improve their lives by giving them the opportunity to become young adults who will bring lasting and positive change to their communities.
By raising awareness for these issues, Our Gift helps to reduce stigmas, improves understanding and makes education possible thru our school and community feeding programs.
Our Story
Zelnita Dennis-Miller and Rovena Stadler-Miller founders of Our Gift in February 2016. The two sisters and active members, Faheem Begg, Michelle Marlene Thomas, Fazzlin Miller and Irene Lo Bianco volunteered their time by wanting to make a difference within poverty-stricken communities and assisting in overcoming the very real problem of hunger within the classroom and community.
A group of dedicated people who volunteered their time, Our Gift began providing food to scholars at three primary schools and community caring in an Informal Settlement.
With the support of volunteers, donations, and partners, we can feed children of school-going age and in Informal Settlements.
We believe change is possible
We are committed to principles of democracy and accountability to ensure our work is open to our partners, clients and members.
We aim to ensure that the development projects in which we are involved are sustainable.
We believe children’s environment should not determine their future.
Our Values
